BMW B-Series Timing Chain Replacement

BMW’s B47 four-cylinder diesel engine is the successor to the popular N47 engine. This modular engine is fitted across the BMW & MINI model range with various power outputs, turbo configuration and in front wheel drive, rear wheel drive and x-Drive models.

Like the N47 engine there is no service schedule for replacing the timing chain, it’s ‘Lifetime’ is similar to the N47 on average around 100,000 miles but we have seen instances of failure from 60,000 miles due to an insufficient number of oil changes.

The B37 (3 cylinder) and B57 (6 cylinder) diesel engines are part of BMW’s modular engine range and suffer with the same timing chain issues – please get in touch for more info.

Our B47 timing chain repairs are booked to be completed on the same day, we start the repair at 8am and if all goes to plan you’ll be driving away just after lunchtime which means we are lucky to have customers from all over the UK. Only xDrive & some MINI models may be required for more than one day but please get in touch to confirm.

Our repair includes a Genuine BMW timing chain kit which comprises of 9 components; upper & lower chains, 2 upper guides & 2 lower guides, top sprocket and upper & lower tensioner, we also replace the rocker cover gasket, fuel injector seals, rear main oil seal, engine oil & filter and coolant. We will also carry out an air conditioning service as part of the repair*
